  • Position Information

    This position will report to the Codes and Standards Supervisor and will be part of the Engineering Services Department of Engineering Staff.  The position will be based out of the Corporate office located at 5241 Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas. 
     
    Duties for this position may include any of the responsibilities listed below, but the primary focus will pertain to the review of distribution pipeline projects, technical support for the Uptime module of GIS related to MAOP, support of Operations Manual revisions related to pipeline design, and support of the Gas Operations Support Staff (GOSS) engineering training roadmap.  Travel may be required to attend external training classes to develop knowledge related to the above, and to participate in industry workshops/conferences.  Travel is generally limited to two or three occurrences per year.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct Standard Practice 450.0 reviews of pipeline designs provided by Operations
    • Technical support and maintenance of the Uptime GIS Module (MAOP calculator) and related business processes
    • Technical support and maintenance of Design Data Collection Application and related business processes
    • Facilitate Operations Manual revisions for sections related to pipeline design
    • Review and provide comments on proposed changes to Federal, State, or industry standards
    • Develop Operations Manual revisions or new Operations Manual sections related to pipeline design due to internal requests, compliance audits, Federal/State law changes, PHMSA interpretations, PHMSA Advisory Bulletins, or updates to industry standards
    • Development or support of training on new or revised Operations Manual sections related to pipeline design
    • Annual review of sections of the Operations Manual owned by Codes and Standards
    • Support of industry or regulatory data requests related to Operations Manual sections related to pipeline design
    • Development and publishing of waivers related to Operations Manual sections concerning pipeline design
    • Support of Operations’ Root Cause Analysis teams
    • Creation, revision, and maintenance of Company Forms/Calculators related to pipeline design
    • Development or support of training related to Company Forms/Calculators related to pipeline design
    • Support of the GOSS development of training related to Engineering Operations and pipeline design
    • Participation in external activities such as AGA/ASME/API Operations Conferences, Technical Committees, Workshops, and Technical Paper Review
    • Participation and attendance of off-site technical training classes to develop knowledge related to pipeline design and other relevant subjects
    • Periodic visits to Operations sites for project or design-related discussions
    • Participation and support of special Company committees related to pipeline design
    • Conversion of processes, calculators, forms, and databases to IS-supported Oracle applications
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

    Minimum Qualifications

    Engineer II - This position requires one to three years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. Other Engineering degrees may be considered. This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid driver’s license.

     

    Distribution Engineer - This position requires three to five years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited university. Area(s) of specialization may dictate a specific engineering discipline.

    $76,025 - $95,031
