    ** This position will serve as a Supervisor in the Payroll Department **
     
    The Supervisor/Corporate Accounting (Payroll Supervisor) provides direction and expert-level guidance to those individuals responsible for processing the company payroll and ensures accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions along with proper governmental reporting and compliance. The Supervisor/Payroll is responsible for coordinating departmental activities on payroll and time and attendance system upgrades, implementations, and special projects.
     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide direction and expert-level technical participation in the development and maintenance of records necessary to accurately and efficiently provide management with information on all aspects of payroll while ensuring compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual, legal and reporting requirements (e.g., Federal and state laws, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements, U.S. Treasury, banking institutions, etc.)
    • Oversee the preparation of and review statutory reporting and filings including; payroll taxes, federal and state tax returns, unemployment compensation, census and labor reporting, multiple worksite reporting, garnishments and various supporting schedules for internal and external reporting purposes, to ensure accuracy and maintain compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state and legal requirements and regulations
    • Supervise individuals responsible for processing bi-weekly and monthly payroll for employees and retirees across multi-states. Validate wages, executive payments and deferrals, tax withholdings, weighted average, retroactive adjustments and company deductions along with proper governmental reporting and compliance
    • Oversee accounting and financial research, analysis and work assignments in compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual and legal requirements and regulations
    • Initiate and control efforts and procedures to maintain data integrity. Identify key and/or recurring issues, and work to resolve through training, configuration, and/or policy and procedural solutions
    • Critically review and analyze current payroll and related procedures in accordance with changing federal, state, and local legal requirements to recommend changes to Company policies resulting in best practices
    • Build positive relationships across the broader payroll team for support, including cyclical testing of system release updates and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Accountable for quarter end and year-end activities, including preparing and filing payroll tax return, processing W2’s, managing vendors, and cross-divisional engagement to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of deliverables
    • Review and approve various general ledger, bank, and payroll related interfaces and downloads, including the reconciliation of various account and vendor interface files and other payroll account reconciliations.
    • Provide accounting and payroll related expertise during the design and implementation of accounting, payroll, time and attendance, and/or human resources related systems and software applications
    • Identify, research, analyze and report on all regulatory issues and/or changes which have an accounting, payroll, or labor related impact
    • Develop, implement, maintain, and review complex analytical models and system-based macros to be used in accounting and finance applications
    • Prepare responses to data requests from regulatory commissions and external parties
    • Provide the accounting expertise needed for regulatory proceedings and testify when necessary
    • Direct, motivate, train, and evaluate staff members
    • Directly participate in hiring process of new employees
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
    • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

    Minimum Qualifications

    This position requires five to seven years of relevant accounting and/or payroll-related work experience.  In addition to the required work experience, a bachelor’s degree with a major emphasis in Accounting is required, along with the demonstration of technical writing ability.  Knowledge of human resources and payroll business proceses an their legislative governance is a must.  A high level of analytical problem solving skills, advance knowledge of Oracle EBS Suite, Workforce Software, Oracle Report Writing and Excel are preferred.

    $88,706 - $110,882
