  • Position Information

    The Project Manager IIis responsible for working independently and for providing project management related to company-sponsored technology projects.
     
    The Senior Project Manager is responsible for working independently and for providing project management related to company-sponsored technology projects. The Senior Project Manager works with the Manager/Technology Project Portfolio, assisting with defining and implementing project management standards and best practices to be used at the Company and reviewing potential candidates for the project manager positions.

    Responsibilities

    Project Management and Project Manager Development

    • Develop, maintain and provide advice on the selection and use of project management standards and best practices
    • Evaluate and recommend cost-effective project management tools and techniques such as development methodologies and project tracking tools
    • Assist Portfolio Manager in performing matching of qualified project managers with the needs of individual projects
    • Assist Portfolio Manager in reviewing qualifications of potential candidates for Project Management Institute certification
    • Assist Portfolio Manager in approving candidates to fill Project Manager positions
    • Provide general project management training to personnel involved in projects, as appropriate
    • Assist in managing content of department website
    • Assist Portfolio Review Board with information regarding project resource management and capacity planning
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Project Planning

    • Develop and obtain approvals for Project Charter and Project Definition Document in accordance with Company standards
    • Develop project structure including identification of Sponsor, Oversight Committee and Steering Committee (Committees), as appropriate
    • Assure that regulatory, legal and other external requirements and factors are clearly understood and accommodated in project plans
    • Develop, maintain, and modify project plans including but not limited to the work plan, communications plan, risk management plan, and change management plan
    • Estimate project schedule and associated costs
    • Specify project deliverables
    • Select project team members and assign project roles and responsibilities with input from the Project Sponsor, Portfolio Manager and Committees
    • Identify overall post-completion owner and responsibilities; develop preliminary responsibility support matrix
    • Work with the business and technical staff to develop preliminary responsibility support matrix and support organizational model.

    Project Execution

    • Plan, direct and coordinate activities of assigned projects to ensure that chartered scope of project is completed within prescribed time frame and budget parameters (entire project or portions of a large project)
    • Monitor and manage factors identified in the project risk analysis
    • Monitor and report project progress and outlook
    • Review and deliver project deliverables; gain approval for project deliverables as appropriate
    • Manage project team members and activities
    • Provide project leadership and motivation
    • Work with Project Sponsor, Committees, and others to be aware of changes in business considerations, resolve issues and assure stakeholder satisfaction with project processes and results
    • Obtain off-team assistance as needed to resolve technical, business and other issues
    • Provide for team member skills development and mentoring within the context and parameters of the project, as appropriate
    • Coordinate with other project managers to assure understanding and appropriate action on inter-project dependencies, relationships and priorities
    • Manage vendor relationships, contracts and performance, as appropriate
    • Provide input to other project managers on project management practices and their use
    • Confirm approach and responsibilities for ongoing use and maintenance of project results (Responsibility Support Matrix)
    • Transition project to maintenance/support mode
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Project Conclusion

    • Obtain agreement among Project Sponsor, Committees and other stakeholders that all project requirements and expectations have been delivered
    • Direct the project team regarding retention of documentation in accordance with Company standards
    • Conduct Lessons Learned session(s) and finalize Lessons Learned document
    • Prepare and obtain approval of a Project Closure document from Project Sponsor and communicate to Committees and project team members, as appropriate
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    Project Manager II

    This position requires a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute.

     

    A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or related field from an accredited university with six years of relevant work experience managing multiple projects for the Company is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and external experience.

     

    Experience with Microsoft Project is desired.

     

    Senior Project Manager

    This position requires five to eight years of relevant work experience and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute.

     

    A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or related field from an accredited university with eight years prior experience managing multiple projects is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and external experience.

     

    Experience with Microsoft Project is desired.

     

    Salary Details

    Project Manager II:
    Min: $86,218 - Mid: $107,772

    Senior Project Manager:
    Min: $100,507 - Mid: $125,634
