Position Information

The Analyst I/II position is an individual contributor to the Tax function at Southwest Gas Corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain tax depreciation and deferred tax records for depreciable property, utilizing the PowerTax software
  • Prepare and review SWGH and subsidiary tax returns and various supporting schedules for internal and external reporting purposes, maintaining compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and regulations (e.g. ERISA, SEC, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.)
  • Conduct complex tax research and prepare memoranda
  • Conduct accounting and financial work assignments in compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual and legal requirements (e.g., contract terms, tariff provisions, state laws, Internal Revenue Service regulations, Sarbanes Oxley requirements, U.S. Treasury, banking institutions, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain tax schedules and records
  • Prepare tax computations and quarterly estimate payment calculations
  • Prepare tax payments and journal entries
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Provide accounting expertise during the design and implementation of corporate software systems
  • Maintain working, current knowledge of tax laws and regulations
  • Interpret accounting policies and procedures for application by others
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Minimum Qualifications

Analyst I:

 

This position requires one to three years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.

 

Certified Public Accountant preferred. 

 

Analyst II:

 

This position requires three to five years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university. 

 

Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Salary Details

Analyst I/Tax: $52,470 - $65,587
Analyst II/Tax: $59,106 - $73,883
