    ***This position will be located in our Phoenix, AZ office***
    This position provides special skilled services relating to the design, installation, planning, maintenance and repair of voice and data communications hardware and software. The ideal candidate will have training and experience working with legacy Nortel/Avaya telephone systems. Our installed base consists of Avaya CS1000M, CS1000E PBX, H323 &SIP VOIP, Call Pilot 5.1 Voicemail, Avaya BCM, and Avaya IP Office. The candidate must be proficient in performing adds, moves, and changes in these systems. Maintenance and repair of the same equipment as well as PRI and analog troubleshooting is a must.
    The ideal candidate should have experience wiht the command line interface with Cisco routers, switches and should have working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking technology. Must also have experience working with carriers to report and resolve circuit outages. Experience with line side and trunk side SIP technology is a plus.


    • Maintain working technical knowledge of the Telecommunications Technician position.
    • Operate and train others to operate diagnostic equipment for monitoring and testing equipment and facilities.
    • When assigned, provides project leadership in the planning, scheduling and controlling of time, equipment and manpower requirements.
    • Document the requirements, nature and scope of projects.
    • Project management and cost control of tasks and projects of various sizes, as well as the escalation and notification of management on all outstanding problems not resolved within the specified time periods.
    • Use analytical and advanced technical skills to define and evaluate network hardware and software relating to business communication applications.
    • Assume responsibility for the development and installation of major hardware projects that are assigned.
    • Install hardware including voice circuit cards, routers, Ethernet switches & hubs, fiber optic cable, copper wiring, and ancillary equipment.
    • Utilize advanced software tools and test equipment to determine corrective action for voice and data repairs.
    • Utilize computers to install and change software configuration data relevant to voice and data systems and equipment.
    • Install and operate all peripheral equipment relating to the networks.
    • Coordinates repair and restoration activities between long distance and local telecommunications carriers and vendors.
    • Plan and install equipment racks, cross-connect blocks and electrical power distribution equipment to support voice and data equipment.
    • Monitor the operation of the corporate-wide voice and data network using advanced software including
    • HP Openview and Nortel-specific programs.
    • Comply with all department procedures and rules.
    • Complete written and electronic company forms and records in neat, legible, accurate and timely manner
    • Operate computer based software programs as required
    • Perform work as required by new technology to include equipment, procedures and methods
    • Communicate in a professional, accurate and timely manner both verbally and in writing with co-workers, customers, other departments, outside agencies and management as required
    • Perform other duties as assigned with appropriate training
    • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

    Special Requirements

    • Meet and maintain the physical requirements of the position.
    • May be required to possess a valid driver’s license and/or other special licenses/certifications.
    • Must be available to perform shift work, staggered workweek, including recognized holidays.
    • Must be available to work overtime.
    • Must be available to be On-Call.
    • Must be able to wear and use all personal protective safety equipment as operating conditions dictate.
    • Must successfully complete all aspects of required training.
    • Must comply with company rules of general conduct, company policies and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum of two years experience as a Telecommunications Technician or five years experience in the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of voice and data equipment and communications systems, with experience as a team leader and basic project management skills.


    Have an in-depth knowledge of electronics relating to data and voice communications networking equipment and implementation; proficiency with fiber and/or copper cable plant installation, modification and maintenance, PC operation, operation of (voice and/or data) system software; customer relation skills, advanced problem-solving techniques; familiar with data transmission protocols, PBX systems and an in-depth knowledge of test equipment troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques and procedures.
