Position Information

The Analyst III/Tech Infrastructure is an individual contributor in the Technical Services area of the Information Services department. The Analyst III manages all storage components for the company.  This position will be responsible for the installation, configuration, support, and trouble-shooting of the storage environment throughout the three-state territory of Nevada, Arizona, and California.
 
The Senior Analyst/Tech Infrastructure is responsible for performing and leading efforts in planning, configuring, testing, and supporting technical infrastructure components (hardware, software, network) utilizing I/S practices, methods and tools within the Technical Services department of the Information Services (I/S) area. This position may provide task direction for others on assigned projects of any complexity and scope.
 
 

Responsibilities

Analyst III/Tech Infrastructure

  • Participate with Application Services, project managers, and support group personnel and/or business areas in capturing technical requirements (including performance and capacity) for topics assigned (hardware, databases, end user devices, security, backup, retention and recovery, application integration, other) and analyze alternatives using Company methodology (cost/benefit, risk, etc.)
  • Document specific technical requirements for storage and related equipment and services, including SAN, NAS, fiber channel switches, hyperconverged infrastructure, and
  • other storage technologies, as assigned
  • Perform research on technical topics as input to analysis and decisions
  • Participate in confirming use of existing infrastructure to meet requirements or work with Technical Architecture Services to identify needs for new types of infrastructure or services
  • Assist in developing and maintaining capacity plans for assigned infrastructure components (processors, storage, network, other)
  • Prepare specifications for infrastructure and network components when appropriate
  • Research and evaluate product and service alternatives for topics assigned using appropriate methodology and document recommendations
  • Participate in problem diagnosis and resolution on a timely basis
  • Participate in the analysis, prioritization and development of change requests, upgrades and patches, and maintenance actions
  • Provide on-call support when assigned
  • Maintain assigned I/S records, including asset and configuration management records and government licensing and circuit/service records, as assigned
  • Participate in managing life cycle support (maintenance, relocation, decommissioning and disposal) of assigned infrastructure, including towers, dishes, and other network equipment
  • Participate in  technology  recovery  and  departmental  emergency  management  planning, rehearsals and execution when assigned
  • Perform the configuration and planned testing of assigned system and technology products needed to implement documented requirements (infrastructure and network, databases, security, data management, other)
  • Perform the turnover of tested infrastructure items and related documentation for production use
  • Participate in managing vendor relationships, including telecom, internet, security and others, as assigned
  • Communicate with and participate effectively in project teams, work groups, support groups, business areas, and with suppliers, as appropriate, keeping department and project team personnel informed on progress and problems
  • Plan individual work to achieve expected scope, schedule and deliverables
  • Understand and utilize appropriate  I/S  strategic  plans,  policies,  practices,  methodology, standards and tools
  • Participate in designing, conducting, and receiving training for I/S personnel
  • Be a source of knowledge and expertise in one or more functional and/or technical topics briefings and research reports as appropriate
  • Gain appropriate knowledge of the business processes and organization in the areas being supported
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Sr Analyst/Tech Infrastructure

  • Lead and perform work with Application Services, project managers, and support group personnel and/or business areas to determine technical requirements (including performance and capacity) for topics assigned (hardware, databases, end user devices, security, backup, retention and recovery, application integration, network, other), analyze alternatives using Company methodology (cost/benefit, risk, etc.) and determine implementation schedule targets
  • Confirm use of existing infrastructure to meet requirements, or work with Technical Architecture Services to identify needs for new types of infrastructure or services and identify infrastructure and services to be retired or discontinued
  • Determine impact of requirements on technology recovery infrastructure and receive confirmation from Control Operations and Planning Support
  • Lead and perform research and evaluation of product and service alternatives for topics assigned (including I/S tools) using appropriate methodology and document recommendations, including vendor business and cost analysis, as appropriate
  • Prepare or review technology component specifications and assure cost-effectiveness and compatibility with I/S architectures and practices for security and technology recovery
  • Lead and perform efforts in configuration, testing, implementation and production turnover of technical infrastructure products and tools as assigned (hardware platforms, operating systems, virtualization, data management, network, databases, security, other)
  • Review or maintain I/S records, including asset, configuration and vendor or government licensing records
  • Coordinate with project managers and other departments to provide infrastructure product training for end users and support groups
  • Develop standards and department procedures
  • Provide input/oversight in the department’s activities/responsibilities including planning, scheduling, staffing, monitoring, traveling and reporting
  • Lead efforts in management of life cycle support (installation, maintenance, relocation, decommissioning and disposal) of assigned infrastructure
  • Develop or maintain capacity plans for assigned infrastructure components (processors, storage, network, other)
  • Provide input to Service Level Objectives
  • Provide approval for production implementations for areas of responsibility
  • Lead or perform problem diagnosis and resolution on a timely basis and participate in "postmortem" reviews, as assigned
  • Lead or participate in the analysis, prioritization and development of change requests, upgrades and patches, and maintenance actions, assuring appropriate coordination, communication, approval, and post-implementation verification
  • Provide on-call support when assigned
  • Participate in technology recovery and departmental emergency management planning, rehearsals and execution as assigned
  • Communicate with and participate effectively in project teams, work groups, support groups, business areas, and with suppliers, as appropriate taking lead roles, keeping department and project team personnel informed on progress and problems
  • Plan team and individual work to achieve expected scope, schedule and deliverables
  • Review documentation prepared by others and monitor timely completion, as assigned
  • Develop, maintain and ensure effective use of I/S strategic plans policies, practices, methodology, standards and tools
  • Design, conduct and participate in training for I/S personnel
  • Be a source of knowledge and expertise in one or more functional and/or technical topics and prepare briefings and research reports as appropriate
  • Gain appropriate knowledge of the business processes and organization in the areas being supported
  • Participate in negotiating and renewing product and service contracts, and monitor performance against contract terms and maintain relationships with assigned suppliers
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Analyst III/Tech Infrastructure

This position requires four to six years of relevant work experience.

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or progress towards a degree is preferred. Industry recognized certification(s) relevant to responsibilities are preferred. Incumbents performing activities requiring government, regulatory or vendor certification must keep those certifications current.

 

Sr Analyst/Tech Infrastructure

This position requires five to seven years of relevant work experience.  The primary requirements for this position are technical skills and experience with supporting a multi-data center storage environment.  Incumbents performing activities requiring government, regulatory or vendor certification must keep those certifications current.

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or progress towards is preferred.  Industry recognized certification(s) relevant to responsibilities are preferred. Previous experience with EMC and/or Pure storage technologies are preferred.

 

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in SAN & NAS storage administration
  • Expertise in using EMC technology – SAN, NAS, HCI.  (VMAX, VNX, Unity, Data Domain, VxRail)
  • Experience managing Pure Storage (M20, X70)
  • Experience with storage protocols – NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, FC.
  • Experience with Brocade and Cisco fiber channel networks.
  • Experience implementing storage systems in various distributed computing environments (Cisco UCS, IBM Mainframe).
  • Develop & document procedures and proactively manage storage area network and storage systems
  • Knowledge and experience in enterprise level backup/restoration technologies, solutions, and implementations.
  • Experience in leveraging storage technologies to perform data migration.
  • Troubleshooting storage and storage area network performance issues.
  • Keep abreast of storage trends and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with other IT groups including Operations, Network, and Security groups on projects.
  • Virtualization and Automation experience (vSphere, vRealize Automation)
  • Documentation skills and ITIL operations

Salary Details

Analyst III/Tech Infrastructure:
$75,968 - $94,960

Sr Analyst/Tech Infrastructure:
$85,261 - $106,576
