Position Information

The Analyst I/Accounting is an individual contributor in the External Financial Reporting function in the Controller’s area of Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG).
 
The Analyst II/Accounting is an individual contributor in the External Financial Reporting function in the Controller’s area of Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG).
 
The Senior Analyst/Accounting is an individual contributor in the External Financial Reporting function in the Controller’s area of Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG).

Responsibilities

Analyst I

  • Provide analytical contribution to the development and maintenance of records necessary to accurately and efficiently provide management with information on all financial aspects of the Company for a functional accounting area
  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reports, regulatory filings and various supporting schedules for external reporting purposes, maintaining compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements and regulations (e.g. ERISA, Security Exchange Commission (SEC), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), etc.)
  • Conduct and document high-level accounting and financial research, analysis and work assignments in compliance with all Company standard practices and contractual and legal requirements (e.g., contract terms, state laws, SOX requirements and SEC regulations.)
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Analyst II

  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development and maintenance of records necessary to accurately and efficiently provide management with information on all financial aspects of the Company for one or more functional accounting areas
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, reports, regulatory filings and various supporting schedules for external reporting purposes, maintaining compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements and regulations (e.g. ERISA, Security Exchange Commission (SEC), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), etc.)
  • Conduct and document detailed accounting and financial research, analysis and work assignments in compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual and legal requirements (e.g., contract terms, state laws, SOX requirements and SEC Regulations.)
  • Assist in implementation of regulatory issues and/or changes which have an accounting impact
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

Senior Analyst

  • Provide direction and/or expert-level participation in the development and maintenance of records necessary to accurately and efficiently provide management with information on all financial aspects of the company for one or more functional accounting areas, while ensuring compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual, legal and reporting requirements and regulations (e.g., contract terms, state laws,  Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements and Security Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations.)
  • Lead in the preparation and review of financial statements, reports, regulatory filings and various supporting schedules for external reporting purposes, maintaining compliance with all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) requirements and regulations
  • Conduct complex accounting and financial research, analysis and work assignments in compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual and legal requirements and regulations
  • Assist in the preparation of company quarterly and annual reports and SEC filings, including supporting documentation
  • Direct, motivate, train and evaluate staff members, as applicable
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Analyst I

This position requires one to three years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.

 

Analyst II

This position requires three to five years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university. 

 

Senior Analyst

This position requires four to six years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.

 

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.  Utility industry experience preferred.

Salary Details

Analyst I: $52,470 - $65,587
Analyst II: $59,106 - $73,883
Sr Analyst: $70,390 - $87,987
